STAFF EXCELLENCE AWARD
ENERGY AND KNOWLEDGE FORM
WINNING COMBINATION FOR BRANTLEY
Mary Brantley’s work is usually behind the scenes, but after
receiving a 2005 Staff Excellence Award, she’ll step from
behind the curtain for much deserved applause.
“It’s a nice feeling to be recognized for what I do,
but I’m part of a team,” said Brantley, University of
Houston’s Faculty Senate staff associate. “I share my
success with the other half of the Faculty Senate staff, Brenda
Jones.”
Brantley and Jones, the Faculty Senate office coordinator, are the
senate’s only two staff members.
Brantley’s duties include the budget and supervising of all
office operations, acting as recorder for the senate’s meetings
and its executive committee and providing support to the senate
leadership.
“Maybe her most effective contribution is that she believes
the university should be a great place to work, a great place to
be a student and a great place with which to be associated,”
“wrote Steven Craig, professor of economics, in his nomination
letter.
As a Staff Excellence Award recipient, Brantley will receive a certificate
and a check for $1,000.
