PETERS MEMORIAL SEEKING ADDITIONAL
DONATIONS
University of Houston staff
member and alumnus Rodger Peters was an inspiration to many members
of the campus community.
Confined to a wheelchair because of spinal muscular
atrophy, Peters never let his inability to walk interfere with his
work or his role with the UH Staff Council. Likewise, he was never
hindered in his efforts to address disability issues on campus.
Peters passed away in July, but Staff Council plans
to keep his memory alive with a memorial red oak tree that will
be planted near the Center for Students with DisAbilities. Donations
for this tree are still being accepted.
“Rodger Peters was a dedicated and resourceful
member of the UH Community,” said Joe Papick, president of
Staff Council and director of the Child Welfare Education Project
in the Graduate School of Social Work. “Now, the community
would like remember his commitment to the university with something
that will be a part of the campus for years to come.”
To submit a donation, send a check or money order
to B. Renae Milton, Staff Council program coordinator, at mail code
2018. Milton also can be contacted (713) 743-1578 or via e-mail
at brenae@uh.edu. All donors will receive a receipt.
