FACULTY AND STAFF CAMPAIGN KICKS
OFF THIS WEEK
Beginning today, May 3, faculty and staff can contribute
once again to the University of Houston through its “Leading
the Way” campaign.
The
third annual faculty and staff campaign offers the UH community
an opportunity to make donations to colleges, departments and programs
of their choice, according to campaign co-chairs Giles Auchmuty,
Faculty Senate president, and Angie Shortt, Staff Council president.
Auchmuty added that faculty members may ask their
colleges’ development officers about special college needs
and projects.
Shortt noted that the campaign also will provide
an opportunity for the UH community to make donations for staff
scholarships. She hopes contributions to the Staff Council’s
scholarship program will enable the organization to establish an
endowment. Currently, Staff Council offers 10 $500 scholarships
to staff members enrolled in UH classes through its base funding.
When the endowment is fully funded, Staff Council will be able to
increase the amount and number of scholarships it awards annually,
Shortt added.
Participation is the key to the campaign’s
success, said Amy Leggio, director of annual giving. All faculty
and staff should receive campaign brochures by May 5, she said.
Gifts also may be made via credit card online at the campaign’s
Web site http://www.advancement.uh.edu/uhgivesback/give.html.
Various giving options for each college also are featured on the
Web site.
