UH Establishes Compliance Program
To promote and support a culture that builds compliance
consciousness into daily activities, the University of Houston has
initiated the Institutional Compliance Program. The program includes
external compliance in a wide variety of areas such as academic
accreditation, safety and environmental regulations, NCAA rules,
tax regulations, and academic and medical privacy laws.
The program includes a confidential reporting mechanism
to offer employees an option of reporting potential issues of noncompliance
outside their normal reporting relationships. A short general training
PowerPoint presentation and the program’s manual is on the
Environmental Health and Risk Management Web site. Visit http://www.uh.edu/plantops/ehrm.html
and click on risk management or manuals.
“It’s important for the university to
learn about potential compliance problems as early as possible.
It is our expectation that THE program’s confidential reporting
system will allow the university to investigate and, if necessary,
correct problems as early as possible,” said Bob Schneller,
director of Environmental Health and Risk Management.
Schneller encouraged all employees to view the training
presentation on the Web site. To report issues of noncompliance,
call 713-743-5858.
