MICHELLE OBAMA PRESENTS BLAFFER
WITH PRESIDENTIAL AWARD

Blaffer Gallery’s Young Artist Apprenticeship Program, a six-week, comprehensive art-making workshop for teenagers from neighboring Houston Independent School District high schools, earned a national endorsement by winning a Coming Up Taller Award from the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.

PROFESSORS DIAGNOSE SLEEP APNEA
USING NONCONTACT METHOD

Researchers at UH and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston have tested a new method of detecting sleep apnea and hypopnea from a distance, using thermal infrared imaging.

Mitchell Center’s ‘Life is Living’ Festival

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney Ave. The free event will feature hip-hop legend MC Lyte. “Life is Living" is a national campaign that uses urban street arts to engage communities of color in conversations about environmentalism and sustainable living.
