Best-selling author and Graduate College of Social Work (GCSW) professor Brené Brown recently spoke about daring to soar at the GCSW's inaugural scholarship luncheon. Funds raised from the luncheon went towards scholarships for UH GCSW students. Brown also recently talked with celebrated talk show host Oprah Winfrey about her new book "Daring Greatly" in a two-part episode of "Super Soul Sunday" and in the June issue of O Magazine.

UH Students Unveil Designs for New HSPVA Campus May 30

Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) is home to ambitious young artists, actors and musicians. Soon, these students will transfer their talents to a brand new campus located in downtown Houston. This spring, UH architecture professor Patrick Peters and 13 students from Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture met with HSPVA faculty and students. They learned what HSPVA's community needed in a new campus. On May 30, they'll unveil these campus concepts for public viewing.

UH Leading Global Subsea Engineering Education Alliance

Leaders with the world's top subsea engineering programs recently gathered at the University of Houston for the first meeting of the Global Subsea University Alliance, a group dedicated to establishing worldwide standards for subsea engineering education.
