The mission of the UH Strategic Energy Alliance (UHSEA) is to establish the University of Houston as a recognized leader locally and globally in energy education and research with clearly identified strategic core competencies. It will achieve this status quickly by leveraging its location in the geographic center of Houston, the global capital of energy. It will enhance UH’s status and that of the region by helping greater Houston and the Gulf Coast to adapt and lead the rapidly changing dynamics of energy throughout the 21st century.

The UHSEA will facilitate relationships with external industry partners to understand needs and optimize the University of Houston capacity to provide energy industry employers with the workforce, the technologies and the technical/business innovations they need not only to compete but also to lead the energy industry on a global basis. UHSEA will also form alliances and support relationships with the Greater Houston Partnership, the Houston Technology Center and other economic development units to insure that the University maximizes the impact of clustering together to bring sustained economic development throughout the region. It will collaborate with other universities, community colleges, independent school districts and research organizations to leverage the development of the region’s human and intellectual capital.
