GEORGE MAGNER AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
IN UNDERGRADUATE ADVISING
HOPKINS BUILDS A NEW FUTURE BY EXAMPLE
Troy Hopkins, academic adviser 2, has led students
and co-workers by example since he began working in the Bauer College
of Business in the department of accountancy and taxation a year
and a half ago.
He started the process of designing, creating and building a new
Accounting Programs Student Database, and since has taken the lead
on projects to make the program more efficient.
“Troy can both recite policy and has the aptitude and intelligence
to think through the process and see issues that have not been
addressed,” a colleague wrote in a letter of recommendation.
“Unlike other advisers I have had, he is willing to go above
and beyond what he is required to do,” one student wrote.
The George Magner Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising
carries a $1,000 check and a framed certificate.
