PIONEERING RESEARCH IN ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE
REAPS REWARD FOR TAM

Vincent Tam, assistant professor of clinical sciences and administration in the College of Pharmacy, received the Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award for the assistant professor rank.

Tam’s research expertise has significantly contributed to the understanding of how to correctly use antimicrobials and limit the emergence of antibiotic resistance, exhibiting potential for significant human health implications.

One supporter and fellow researcher wrote, “This research is very relevant, since it will provide the basis of dose optimization for antibiotics in the future, which is an issue that has become highly relevant in the days of rapid resistance emergence.”

The Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award is given to faculty members who have achieved a substantial record of outstanding research, scholarship or creative activities in their field. The award carries a $5,000 stipend and a plaque.
