EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
PIONEERING RESEARCH IN ANTIBIOTIC
RESISTANCE
REAPS REWARD FOR TAM
Vincent Tam, assistant professor of clinical sciences and administration
in the College of Pharmacy, received the Excellence in Research
and Scholarship Award for the assistant professor rank.
Tam’s research expertise has significantly contributed to
the understanding of how to correctly use antimicrobials and limit
the emergence of antibiotic resistance, exhibiting potential for
significant human health implications.
One supporter and fellow researcher wrote, “This research
is very relevant, since it will provide the basis of dose optimization
for antibiotics in the future, which is an issue that has become
highly relevant in the days of rapid resistance emergence.”
The Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award is given to faculty
members who have achieved a substantial record of outstanding research,
scholarship or creative activities in their field. The award carries
a $5,000 stipend and a plaque.
