Marvin E. Odum has served as President of Shell Oil Company since May 2008.
Since 2005, he also has held the position of Executive Vice President for the Americas for Shell Exploration & Production, with responsibility for Shell exploration and production businesses in the western hemisphere.
Odum sits on the board of directors of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and on its Policy Committee and Executive Committee. He is a commissioner of The Aspen Institute Dialogue and Commission on Arctic Climate Change and a member of the Steering Committee for the Energy, Security, Innovation & Sustainability Initiative of The Council On Competitiveness.
He also serves on the board of trustees of the National Urban League and on its Policy Committee. He is a member of the Business Roundtable, the Dean’s Council of the Harvard Kennedy School, the University of Texas College of Engineering Advisory Board and the board of directors of the Council of the Americas and the Greater Houston Partnership. At the University of Houston, Odum serves as a member of the Presidential Energy Advisory Board.
Odum earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston.
