Jim P. Wise was appointed to the UH System Board of Regents in 2006 by Governor Rick Perry and served through August 31, 2011. He served on the Search Committee that recommended Dr. Renu Khator, served as vice chair of the Board of Regents twice, secretary once, member of the Executive Committee, chaired the Finance Committee, served on Facilities, Construction Committee, Endowment Committee, Audit Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee.
Wise is a managing member of Haddington Energy Partners III, and Haddington Energy Partners IV, both private equity funds that provide capital to midstream natural gas companies with a focus on natural gas storage, gathering and processing, and other midstream natural gas activities. He has over 45 years of business experience with several public companies, among them Integrated Electrical Systems, of which he was vice chairman of the board, CEO, and co-founder. He also held senior executive posts with Transco Energy Company and Houston Natural Gas Company. Wise is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas.
A native Houstonian and fourth generation Texan, Wise graduated from the University of Houston’s C.T. Bauer College of Business in 1966 with a BBA degree with a major in accounting. He is a member of the College’s Dean’s Executive Advisory Board, and was named Distinguished Alumnus in 2001.
He is a member of many civic and professional organizations, among them Life Member of the Houston Metropolitan Area Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Houston, and serves on the board of several corporations.
