CWS Overview

This is a message to University of Houston students and prospective students about the College Work-Study program. Work-Study jobs are available on and off-campus through the Department of Scholarships and Financial Aid and University Career Services. Students desiring to apply for a Work-Study job should contact the Department of Scholarships and Financial Aid (phone 713-743-1010) and complete the application materials.

Awards are based primarily on financial need. Once the student receives the award, he/she may view the Work-Study job postings and apply for jobs through the University Career Services website. For fall semester jobs, students may begin the job application process on August 1. Most hiring takes place leading up to the beginning of the fall semester, although hiring continues throughout the academic year.

The overview below shows the types of College Work-Study jobs that are typically available at UH and the typical wages paid associated with those jobs. There are generally about 850 college Work-Study jobs, both on and off-campus, available through UH each year. This information is designed to help students decide whether or not they wish to apply for a Work-Study job and to give them an idea of what to expect should they decide to apply.

The information presented on these pages meets the requirements of Texas House Bill 2504, section 4.229, "Internet access to Work-Study information."
