Monica Thompson was appointed the Executive Director of UCS on July 7, 2014. She joins the University of Houston from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was the Assistant Director of Internal Operations and Student Services, as well as Career Course Manager and BA 101 Lecturer for BBA Career Services, at the McCombs School of Business.
Thompson’s career spans over 20 years in higher education, recruiting, and human resources. While at UT, Thompson utilized comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge of organizational design, change management, project management, team development, leadership development, talent management and instructional design to contribute to the overall management and leadership of the McCombs BBA Career Services center. She is passionate about developing today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders while delivering operational excellence as the Executive Director of University Career Services at the University of Houston. “I cultivated professional development opportunities for 4,500 undergraduate business students annually at UT-Austin’s business career services, ranked second in the nation,” said Thompson. “I am excited to join the University of Houston at the most exciting time to be in Houston. Over the past year, Tiffany’s dedication to outreach, expanding campus-wide partnerships and promoting professional development opportunities for the career consortium have exemplified her passion for service to UH students, faculty, and staff. As the new associate director of UCS, Tiffany will continue to cultivate campus-wide partnerships by fostering relationships with faculty, staff, and student leaders from all academic programs. She is charged with effective delivering comprehensive career services to UH students including bridging resources across divisions, and building networks with Exploratory Studies, Academic Advising Center, faculty members, university student organizations and other key university entities to increase awareness of career development services
Tiffany joined UCS in 2014 as a career counselor and liaison for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Pre-Health professions. During this time, Tiffany has directly impacted UCS in the areas of building partnerships and implementing student services programs at UH. Her successful leadership in the rebranding of UCS through targeted marketing and communications for campus-wide career fairs, and events such as Professional Discovery Week, NSM Career Fair Prep Week, Mock Interview Series, and Resume/CV skills series for the College of Pharmacy, have directly increased awareness of UCS services for freshmen through alumni.
Prior to UH, Tiffany’s diverse higher education experience since 2004 includes cultivating strategic partnerships with campus entities as well as providing leadership to advising teams. She is passionate about student success and is looking forward to expanding UCS’ awareness and building upon UH initiatives. Tiffany holds both a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Student Development in Higher Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach.
Cynthia joined the University Career Services (UCS) team as the assistant director of Alumni Career Services. She assists UCS leadership in providing career development assistance to UH alumni seeking assistance with their job search. Additionally, she will facilitate awareness of services with an emphasis on developing new employment opportunities for UH alumni in the greater Houston community.
Cynthia has over ten years of experience as an employment counselor improving workforce development opportunities within the Texas Workforce Commission agency including unemployment services, youth programs, and workforce training opportunities. She previously served as a career counselor for the University of Houston College of Technology, where she provided career services to enrolled students and alumni. Cynthia was very successful in this role; she increased career fair employer participation by 78 percent and increased student participation by 95 percent. She was also successful in collecting job and salary information and achieved a 67 percent response rate from the graduating students in the College of Technology.
At UH, Cynthia has actively participated in Cougar First Impressions, the PALS program, is an active member of UH Staff Council, and serves as a Registered Student Organization advisor. She believes career counseling is a pertinent aspect of an individual’s professional development. It is her personal mission to help individuals discover their passion, practice their skills, and pursue their dreams.
Cynthia graduated with a Bachelor of Science from UH. As a UH student, she had the opportunity to live on-campus and work for the university as a switchboard operator. Cynthia later earned her Master of Business Administration and founded Initiatives for All (IFA), a non-profit organization guiding individuals in their pursuit of a college degree.
Priyanka has close to 7 years of experience providing career counseling to students from all majors. She holds graduate degrees in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health Counseling. Priyanka is the liaison to College of Education, Graduate School of Social Work, and College of Engineering. She can assist by reviewing resumes, discussing internship and job search strategies, conducting mock interviews, guiding graduate school application process, and resolving any other career related questions or concerns. Priyanka is also the co- career counselor for Pre-Med students and enjoys working with international students.
Rayna serves the University of Houston as a UCS liaison to the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. She specializes in identifying vocational interests, administering and interpreting personality and career assessments, resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategizing.
She holds a master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Louisiana State University and is a Certified Professional Career Coach.
Rayna brings with her a strong interest in career and student development theory is eager to help UH students and alumni explore and seize their wildest career dreams!Rayna meets with students within the following majors and special minor programs:

Lauren L. Moore
Employer Relations Coordinator
As Employer Relations Coordinator, Lauren serves as the primary point of contact for employers, and helps guide employers through the recruiting process. She is creating awareness among corporate and community organizations as to the benefits of hiring U of H students and graduates, and of the services of UCS. Lauren has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Recruitment Services and Outreach Coordinator
Brandon Cubina has been appointed as the Recruitment Services and Outreach Coordinator for University Career Services and serves on the Employer Development and Relations team. Brandon provides direct support for students, alumni, and employers to participate in UCS programs and services.
He manages On-Campus Recruiting through Cougar Pathway, UCS’s web-based system for job postings, On-Campus Recruiting, and career fairs. Brandon assists with employer outreach in creating employment opportunities by planning and organizing various career events for students, alumni, and employers.
He received a B.B.A. in Management, Human Resources track, and a minor in Marketing from the University of Houston. He has a number of years engaging students with at the University of Houston while involved in HBSA (Hispanic Business Student Association), Men’s Club Volleyball, and HR Houston Human Resource Management Association.

Mona Davis serves as the Office Coordinator. In her role, she provides oversight to the front desk and back office operations. She is responsible for the supervision of the student employees, and is available to provide organizational support for Career Counselor Staff. She provides direct support to the executive director and the student employment coordinator, while supporting the posting of new employment opportunities and serving as the department’s social media coordinator.
