Career Counseling

University Career Services (UCS) provides career counseling to assist UH students and alumni develop, evaluate and implement their career plans.

On-Campus Interviews

Employers interview students of all majors for internship and full-time, career-level positions on campus every fall and spring semester. Students should plan on participating in Campus Recruitment up to one full year prior to graduation.

Vocational Assessments

Designed to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, pinpoint your interests, and clarify your values, vocational assessments can help you identify possible career paths and majors.

Both self-administered and counselor-assisted assessments are available at UCS. Talk to a counselor to see which assessment is right for you. A nominal fee may be charged. Request an appointment with a Career Counselor.

Internship Services

University Career Services offers Internship Services geared to assisting currently enrolled University of Houston students in all phases of the internship search.

College Work-Study

College Work-Study (CWS) at University Career Services provides UH work-study awarded students the opportunity to search for CWS jobs and to complete online applications. Log into Cougar Pathway to find College Work-Study jobs.

The Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid (SFA) issues College Work-Study (CWS) awards to eligible students. For more information, go here.

Alumni Services

UH alumni are eligible for all UCS career planning and job search services.

Employer Services

Designed to assist employers in meeting their human resource needs. Whether you are looking to hire part-time employees, internship candidates, new graduates, or experienced alumni, UCS is poised to help you identify the most qualified candidates in the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible.

Other Services

  • Career Fairs
    UCS participates in several career fairs each semester and is one of the sponsors of the annual Texas Job Fair. Additional information regarding career fairs on campus is available on our Events Calendar.
  • Career Workshops
    UCS facilitates workshops on topics including resume writing, interview techniques, internships, job search, and Campus Recruitment every week. Visit our Events Calendar for dates, times, and descriptions of workshops, or pick up a workshop schedule in the UCS lobby.
  • Mock Interviews
    Career Counselors are available to help you prepare for your employment and graduate/professional school interviews. Mock interviews are one-on-one practice interviews designed to prepare you for the real thing.
  • Presentations
    Career Counselors are available to conduct workshops and presentations on all aspects of career planning and decision-making, including job search. If interested, please fill out the presentation request form.
