Our Fellow Cougars: UC2010 Moving Forward Presentation

In the months since the UC 2010 student referendum passed with an overwhelming 77% of student support, the UC 2010 Initiative has been busy fighting for your transformed University Center on Capitol Hill.  Sponsored by Representative Garnet Coleman in the House and Senator Rodney Ellis in the Senate, House Bill 2961 raised the UC Fee Ceiling high enough to finance this extraordinary project.  HB2961 passed the Texas House with no dissent, and the Texas Senate unanimously.  Governor Perry signed the bill into law on June 19th, 2009.
Moving forward, we still need student support as we secure approvals for the UC 2010 Transformation Project.  More importantly, we need students involved in every step of the way as we shape the transformed University Center into the building students need most.  Regular meetings will begin again in the Fall 2009 semester.  Thank you again for your continued support, and Go Coogs!
 University Center Student Referendum
The proposed Transformation of the University Center will include the components set forth above (chart at voting site) and will be dedicated to support student life and student success.  The renovation, phasing, escalation and debt service for a transformed University Center will require a semester fee of $150 for all UH students (phased-in over a period of five years as identified above).

Since 1967 when the University Center first opened to support the UH community with services, programs and facilities, it has been the home away from home for UH students.  This is our University Center and we greatly appreciate you taking the time to participate in this important project that will provide a University Center that will grow to meet the needs for all of us and future Cougars.
