Join us as we kick off Stress Free Finals! Featuring a Hot Chocolate bar with a variety of toppings to personalize your hot cocoa and as a snack, stop by our Brain Food bar which you can get in our to-go bags and fill them with bananas, trail mix and more. Additionally, you can pick up one of three custom designed “Stress Free Finals” t-shirts for FREE!

Stress-proof your eating and learn how to create new eating habits that will have you feeling great every day. Come join dining dietician, Sarah Fye, as she gives out Nutrition information to help you improve eating habits.

UH Sustainability Fest
11:30am – 1:30pm @ Lynn Eusan Park
Unwind and celebrate sustainability at this annual UH festival! With a valid Cougar Card, the first 500 guests will receive a tote bag, water bottle and sustainable bookmark. Join us for a healthy cooking demo, Nissan Leaf test drives, a yoga demonstration, poetry readings and more! Event zones include the natural environment, sustainable transportation, eco-nomy & green systems, arts & community, and health & wellness. Generation One Academy

Generation One is a non-profit agency in Houston's third ward that provides after school programs for elementary school students. Volunteers are needed to tutor the students and supervise various sports activities. For questions, please contact Emily Johnson. Transportation will be provided. All volunteers will meet and depart from the Student Center at 3:30pm

Thursday, December 4th

Winter Wonderland
12:00 – 4:00pm @ Lynn Eusan Park

The Student Program Board will be hosting its 6th annual Winter Wonderland event on December 4, 2014 at Lynn Eusan Park from 12-4pm. Students can bring in the winter spirit and celebrate the end of the fall semester by enjoying the 120,000 lbs of snow to sled in, free funnel cakes, hot chocolate, photo novelty items, t-shirts and mStudent Centerh more.

Marines Fitness Test
1:00pm @ CRWC Outdoor Track (located to the southeast of the building)

Take a break from the stresses of final exams to put your fitness level to the test in a Marines Fitness Test! Administered by actual Marine recruiters, participants can see where they stack up against standards of the few and the proud. Push your body to the limit one last time before settling in to study! Participants will receive free Marines gear!

Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank works to end hunger in the Houston community. Volunteers are needed to help sort and package food items that will be distributed to food pantries and charities in the Houston area. For questions, please contact Sara Lalani . Transportation will be provided for volunteers who require it. All volunteers will meet and depart from the Student Center at 5pm.

Community Garden
1:00pm – 4:00pm, On the corner of Wheeler Ave. and Cullen Blvd. next to the Cougar Woods dining hall.

The Campus Community Garden is an all organic garden run by the Office of Sustainability. The garden provides fresh vegetables and herbs to low income community members, and provides edStudent Centerational opportunities to neighborhood schools. Volunteers are needed to help plant seeds, weed beds, water plants, and other gardening tasks. For questions, please contact Emily Johnson.

Come by the Student Center Plaza and pick up your FREE Bluebooks, scantrons, and a breakfast to-go from Shipley’s Donuts! We’ll also be giving out “Stress Free” brain balls to feel smarter, regain focus and unleash your inner genius!

Contest will begin December 1 and end December 12 at 11:59pm

  1. Follow @UHStudent Center
  2. Take a selfie or group photo showing how you’re relaxing during Finals Week (Reading your favorite book, meditating with a friend, working out with your organization, etc.) or at a Stress Free Finals event.
  3. Tag @uhStudent Center and hashtag #UHStressFree
  4. Qualify to win a gift card for a massage.


  • Must be following @UHStudent Center, tag @UHStudent Center and hashtag #UHStressFree to be eligible to win.
  • Contest entries are only allowed via Instagram.
  • Winner will be chosen on December 14 and will be contacted via Instagram.
  • Participant must be in the photo taken whether it’s a selfie or group photo.
  • Participants must submit their entries by 11:59pm on December 12.
  • Photo submissions depicting violations of the UH Student Code of CondStudent Centert will result in disqualification and may lead to further disciplinary action.
  • All photos submitted to complete tasks will be reviewed by the Student Center Marketing Department. All decisions by sponsors are final.
  • Prize winners must go through enrollment verification before receiving any prize, which will confirm enrollment in at least 3 credit hours at the University of Houston central campus and that all accounts are in good standing.

Stress Free with WRC and LGBT
Drop by the Women’s Resource and LGBT Center for free scantrons and blue books along with free fruit and other healthy snacks.

Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC), Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga classes are located in the Natatorium, All other yoga classes are located in Multipurpose Room 4

Yoga is the practice of moving through a number of asanas or poses often practiced alone for fitness or combined with meditation to calm and center the mind. This practice is beneficial for redStudent Centering stress and anxiety, perfect for Finals Week! We have a yoga class for all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned yogis.
