Groundbreaking Ceremony
The University Center Transformation Project—the project to transform YOUR University Center into the heart of this Tier One campus—recently celebrated its groundbreaking.
Just three and a half short years ago, the student body voted to overwhelmingly support an increase to the UC Fee to make the Transformed University Center a reality. As students and administrators ceremonially broke ground on the project, another major step was taken to bring YOUR New UC from concept to concrete.
Frontier Fiesta
Frontier Fiesta is a student–run, student–led festival hosted by the University of Houston to promote scholarship, community, and education in the University of Houston students, staff, and faculty, as well as in the Houston community. Frontier Fiesta is a diverse showcase for the talents of the University of Houston student body. Each year a piece of our campus is transformed into a fully functional town called "Fiesta City" which features free live concerts each night, variety shows by student organizations, carnival booths, multicultural performances, and a BBQ Cook–Off and Bake Fiesta.
ACUI Region 12 Games Tournament
ACUI collegiate championship tournaments are designed to contribute to the social, physical, mental, and emotional development of students and professionals. ACUI further promotes its core value of community through its recreation and leisure activities program. This is one of the longest running programs in the Association's history.
Safe Spring Break Backyard Luau
The collaborative efforts of Student Program Board, Wellness Center, and University Centers offered fun activities with educational components. The collaborators designed the event to entertain students while giving them resources to think about safe alternatives for spring break.
University Center's 45th Anniversary / Valentines Celebration
Celebration featuring a Valentine’s Day Gift mart, a “Twist” dance contest with great prizes, FREE T-Shirts for Tie Dyeing, FREE Stuff-A-Bear, FREE Cake and Blue Bell Ice Cream and more.
Additionally, students and staff were able to express their thoughts and memories related to their time in the University Center on the “Graffiti Wall”.
OctoberFest: Haunted House
The Haunted Penthouse at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center: Experience all the chills and frights that come with experiencing true terror. Those who survived received a free t-shirt courtesy of the University Centers.
Additionally, students who survived The Haunted Penthouse were encouraged to share the “gift of life” and donate blood at our TRUE Blood Drive, featuring Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
OctoberFest 2011As part of OctoberFest 2011, The University Centers along with other departments around campus are celebrating all the best things about the month of October. Students will have three days to enjoy FREE Food, activities, and prizes.
2011 Student Staff TrainingThe UC Student Staff Trainings take place in the Fall and Spring semesters. Theses interactive trainings inform students of the locations and services of the UC's units, foster an opportunity to network with peers and provide developmental opportunities.
