Scale Transformed University Center Model Makes Debut in UC Administration Services and Operations Office

Though much of the University Center has been closed for construction, the UC Transformation Project has been committed to offering the university community previews of the future of the UC.  Toward this end, we have commissioned a scale model of the New UC, built from the digital architectural renderings themselves.


Daniel Gray Named Recipient of Shirley Plakidas Award by ACUI Region 12

On Saturday, November 3, 2012 Daniel Gray, the Assistant Director for the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), received the Shirley Plakidas Outstanding New Professional Award from the Association of College Unions (ACUI) Region 12. Daniel began his time at the University of Houston (UH) as a graduate student and received his Master’s degree in Education. He started his professional career with the UH University Centers as the Program Coordinator for Commuter Services, where he became highly involved with ACUI programs on the Regional and National level. Daniel recently served as the Co-Lead Facilitator for ACUI’s Institute for Leadership Education and Development (I-LEAD) for the 2012 program.


UHFS Office to be Relocated

In order to accommodate the construction of the University Center Transformation Project, The UH Forensics Society will relocate from UC Room 35 to Room 102 in Oberholtzer Hall. This office transition will take place between November 26 and December 7, 2013. Additional services located on the UC Ground Floor will also be taken offline (TV lounge, commuter microwave, restrooms, computer kiosk and the Lactation Center).

Beloved University Center Hair Stylist Finds New Home

As the University Center Transformation Project continues its transition from concept to concrete, a number of changes were made to the building program and portfolio of services. In order to accommodate the full schedule and scope of the UC Transformation Project, the on-campus hair salon, Jonorr’s, closed permanently effective June 29th.

UH Students Join Former President Clinton at 2012 Clinton Global Initiative University Conference

Each spring, world leaders, the brightest minds in business and some of the most philanthropic people on Earth join students and national youth organizations at the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU) to address the world's most pressing problems. Eleven students from the University of Houston were among the attendees in 2012.
