Director, UC Facilities and Operations
Cheryl Grew-Gillen joined the UC and Associated Facilities in August 2004 as the Associate Director and currently serves the University Centers as the Director, UC Facilities and Operations since September 2010. In this role Cheryl works with UC Building Services, UC Event Services, UC Administrative Services and Operations and the A.D. Bruce Religion Center. Cheryl also serves as the UH advisor to the Dance On (Dance Marathon) student organization and has done so since its establishment in 2007. The Dance On Dance Marathon program is affiliated with Children's Miracle Network and raises funds for Charity Care at Texas Children's Hospital.
Cheryl previously served as the Director, Student Union & Activities at Montana State University-Billings from 1997 to 2003. Cheryl also held positions at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. Cheryl has a Masters of Science in Counseling and Human Development with an emphasis in Student Personnel Services from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Community Service with a minor in Recreation from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, MN. Cheryl has held volunteer committee positions in both the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) and the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA).
Cheryl and her family enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and also experiencing local/regional celebrations and attractions.
Office Coordinator, UC Administration
Linda, a native Houstonian, joined the University of Houston, University Center & Associated Facilities in December, 2001 as a Secretary I for UC Building Services, currently she is the Office Coordinator for the University Center Administrative & Operations Office. She enjoys working with staff, especially student staff, from all areas of the university. As a member of Staff Council she volunteers for student events, such as Cougar First Impressions, Easter Egg Hunt, etc. She feels meeting student’s needs should be high on everyone’s priority list. In her spare time she likes to stay busy with family and friends. She also enjoys reading and taking in an occasional movie.
Financial Coordinator II, UC Administration
Vicky Henderson started at the University of Houston, University Center and Associated Facilities as a Secretary 1 in April 1999 and was promoted in October 1999 as the Financial Coordinator 1 and in January 2003 was reclassified as a Financial Coordinator 2. She majored in Nursing. Her most enjoyable aspects are helping students, staff and customers and going that extra mile to get what is needed for them. When not at work she enjoys being with family and friends, attending old collectible car and truck shows, sporting events, exercising, reading, movies and listening to music or volunteering at her son’s school. She also likes to collect banks.
Program Coordinator, UC Building Services
Beverly started working for the University Center in November 2001 in Building Services as an Office Coordinator and is now part of the UC Administrative Services and Operations Office as a Program Coordinator. She was born and raised in the great state of Texas. Currently she serves on the UC Student Employment Committee, UC Events Committee and UC Policy Committee. When not at work she enjoys watching movies, listening to music, attending concerts, watching UFC and collecting ducks/dragons.
La Donna Hogan
Secretary I, UC Administration
La Donna enjoys working at UH where she provides clerical support for faculty, staff, students and visitors in a fun working atmosphere in the UC Administrative Services & Operations office. Away from work, she’s a home childcare provider and enjoys spending time with her family and bible studies.
Assistant Director, UC Event Services
James Pettijohn has worked with the University Center for 3 years in the Conference and Reservation Services office. He came to the University of Houston in 2002 as the Manager of Cullen Performance Hall. Raised around Dallas, James attended Dallas County Community College – Northlake and graduated from University of Texas at Austin in 1988 with a BFA in Theater Design and Production. When not at work, James enjoys motorcycle riding, his computer, and relaxing with a good book.
Reservationist, UC Event Services
Theresa Crosslin, a native Houstonian, came to the university in January of '02 as a Reservationist in the Conference and Reservations office. She started her career with Continental Airlines, leaving there to raise her children. During the time the children were in school, she had a freelance interior decorating business. After the children were grown, she worked as a Senior Legal Secretary for a large gas pipeline company.
She feels blessed to have met so many wonderful, diverse students in her tenure at the university. Her goal is to make each student feel important, comfortable and make their experience with the CARS Office as enjoyable as possible.
When not working, she enjoys traveling, visiting with friends and enjoying her 6 grandchildren.
Reservationist, UC Event Services
Cathy Mahaffey joined the staff at University of Houston as the Reservationist at the University Center in May, 2008. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, going to the beach and spending time with her grandchildren.
Media Services Coordinator, UC Event Services
David Vaughn is a native Houstonian who has retuned home after a very exciting stint on the road. David has worked in regional theatre and toured as a technical director and audio engineer for American Family Theatre out of Philadelphia and lead audio engineer for Celebrity Cruise Lines.
Currently, David is completing his undergraduate studies in Media Production at the Valenti School of Communication. His expected graduation date is Spring 2011.
In his free time, David works as the recording engineer for Houston's First Baptist Church. He produces a weekly radio broadcast for his church home in addition to assisting with other audio productions.
Some hobbies David enjoys are camping, hiking, and canyoneering. He has a passion for music and loves to work with musicians. He will occasionally play guitar but is more skilled behind the sound board.
David is proud to be back in Houston; not only serving as Media Service Coordinator for the UC but as a fellow Coog.
UC Program Coordinator
Micah Kenfield has joined the UC Family as a full-time employee after seven years as an undergraduate and graduate student working in, around, or on the University Center. His day-to-day work is largely concerned with the University Centers’ committees and the UC Transformation Project. If he’s lucky, he even sometimes gets to play with cost models and financial pro formas. Microsoft Excel is his favorite program in the world.
His Bachelor’s degree is in Linguistics, and his Master’s is in Public Administration. In his spare time, he likes reading biographies of presidents; cooking inexpensive, healthy, delicious food; and jogging. He is an INTJ and rather proud of this fact.

UC Events Coordinator, UC Event Services
Ollie has been working in the University Center since 1983. He currently serves as the night UC Events Services Coordinator. He enjoys his job.

Linda started working in the UC in 1995 as a custodian and became lead custodian in 1998. She continued to learn her job and was promoted to Assistant Supervisor of Housekeeping in 2000. Linda really enjoys keeping customers satisfied and she transitioned to her current position in 2006. She enjoys all aspects of her job from setting up the various rooms for meetings and events to ensuring the customer is satisfied with their equipment needs for their program. She really likes to provide outstanding customer service to all of the patrons of the University Center.
Linda loves to spend time with her family, two daughters and traveling to San Antonio. Linda likes her job and enjoys working with customers to help keep them satisfied.

Manager for A.D. Bruce Religion Center
A. D. Bruce Religion Center
Bruce Twenhafel joined the University of Houston family in January 1999 as a program advisor in the Office of Campus Activities providing guidance and direction to the Frontier Fiesta Association and the Interfraternity Council. Over the next 12 years, Bruce served as assistant director and then associate director working with all aspects of Campus Activities. He became Manager of AD Bruce Religion Center in July 2010 and is responsible for the operations, programs and services of the Religion Center.
In his spare time Bruce provides the voice to the UH Marching Band for their pre-game and half time programs. He also works with the UH Athletic Department as their PA announcer for men's basketball, women's soccer, and softball. Originally from Illinois, Bruce received a B. S. in Education from Illinois State University ('73) and a Master's in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University ('95) with an emphasis in university center operations. His work experience includes: Illinois State University, Oklahoma State University, Southwest Texas State University, Western Illinois University, and Alvin Community College.
