About Me

Since elementary school, I have been fascinated with science and mathematics, and that passion has only grown since.  Through all my science classes, however, I felt that the answer to one question opened even more questions, to the point where I felt the need to understand the fundamental microscopic processes causing seemingly basic actions, such as muscle contractions or nerve impulses.  Similarly, I have never been satisfied at being given an equation in mathematics classes, and strive to get at least a basic understanding of the theory behind the equations.  This desire to understand the fundamental aspects of these subjects is my greatest motivation to continue to learn about them.  In addition to these academic interests I also enjoy listening to music, playing video games and reading fiction novels.

Campus and Community Involvement

I have volunteered at AAR (Abandoned Animal Rescue), a no-kill shelter for cats and dogs where I brought out the dogs to play and run and cleaned up after them.  I have also participated in Spanish Honor Society and Computer Science clubs at my high school.

Awards and Honors

The largest scholarship I have received in addition to Tier One is the National Merit scholarship.  I have received the AP Scholar with Distinction and National AP Scholar awards from College Board.  I have also been a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.

Study Abroad

I took 4 years of Spanish in middle school and high school, finishing with AP Spanish.  As far as other language classes are concerned, I am interested in taking either German or Russian if I find openings in my schedule.  Studying abroad is an intriguing notion, but I am unsure whether or not I want to make that commitment just yet.  If I were to study abroad, I would love to go to Europe or maybe South America.

I am currently open to researching anything that falls under Biology, Medicine, Chemistry, or Computer Science.  I plan to at some point participate in undergraduate research, although not likely in my freshman year.

Future Endeavors

After completing the undergraduate program, I certainly plan on continuing to medical school or other graduate schools.  Although I am currently unsure, I will likely pursue a PhD.
