Hello there! I am an incoming freshman to UH and am majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Medicine & Society under the new ¾ Medical Program. I’m aspiring to specialize in the pediatric field because my ultimate goal is to serve the most impoverished and provided them with a better quality of life. When I’m not studying I love to create unique pieces of art with all types of media from watercolors to scraps and recycled material for sculpture. I also enjoy reading and baking in my free time. I am excited for the school year and can’t wait to be immersed in the Cougar community!
Campus and Community Involvement
I enjoy serving my community and have spent the past summers volunteering at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine and H.E.B. Harris Methodist Hospital as well as helping out at the local donation center, G.R.A.C.E. I also like to swim competitively and play the piano. In high school, I was the President of Parliament in National Honor Society and the Vice President in Spanish Honor Society.
Awards and Honors
In high school, I received the Principal Scholars award and was a member of the Community Scholar Ambassador Program. In my sophomore summer I was nominated by my principal to attend Camp Community, which has made a significant impact in my life and taught me to be aware of stereotypes and to stand up to challenge them. Upon attending UH I was privileged to receive the Academic Excellence Scholarship and Tier One Scholarship.
In high school I took five years of Spanish. If I had the opportunity to study abroad I would like to travel to England, Ireland, or Australia. While I am familiar with England and Ireland, I would love to experience the culture of Australia and study biology and see what the country has to offer.
I would like to participate in research within my major, Biomedical Sciences, to better acquaint myself with biological processes and explore different aspects of biology.
Through the ¾ Medical Program I hope to continue on to medical school to pursue a Doctorate of Medicine.
