I have a wide variety of interests. I appreciate not only the sciences, but also the humanities like history and language. I love to read and learn about new people and cultures. I am the kind of person who is very focused about what I want to do. I believe that every person has a purpose to fulfill and it is for this reason that I wish to practice medicine but in the nonprofit sector. I hope to travel around the world and help various communities establish services and institutions that can change people’s lives for years to come.
Campus and Community Involvement
I truly enjoy volunteering in the Houston community. I have volunteered more than 100 hours each at both St. Luke’s Hospital and Texas Children Hospital, both in the medical center. Apart from that I tutored Spanish speaking children in English and worked with a nonprofit disaster relief organization throughout my high school career.
In high school I received the Academic Excellence award all of four years. I was also a 2013 National AP Scholar and a 2012 AP Scholar with Distinction. I hope to receive more awards as I continue my education here at UH.
By the end of high school I had taken 6 years of Spanish and had just started studying Arabic outside of school. Thus I would love to study abroad in either Spain or the Middle East so I can further study either of these two languages and understand their cultural contexts.
I plan on doing research in the biological sciences, especially related to medicine. I would also like to do research in the social sciences.
After my undergraduate studies I plan on going to medical school. I wish to become a surgeon and partake in medical nonprofit organizations in different areas of the world.
