I am a first year student at the University of Houston Honors College majoring in Pre-Med Psychology. I have a passion for working with and helping others, especially children. I have been active in volunteer programs assisting special needs individuals and have truly enjoyed my experiences. I am motivated to make a positive difference in society by helping others overcome individual obstacles and reach their full potential.
Campus and Community InvolvementI am currently a member of the Spirit of Houston Marching Band. I enjoy volunteering off campus with special needs children and look forward to the upcoming volunteer opportunities here at the University of Houston.
Awards and Honors
I was the valedictorian of my high school graduating class and received subject awards for Mathematics, Foreign Language, Social Studies, and English as well as the highest citizenship award possible at my school, Pro Deo Et Schola, Maxima Cum Laude for the National Latin Exam, TAPPS Division 1 ratings for concert band, the John Philip Sousa Award, and Most Dedicated Band Member. I received scholarships from the Houston Chamber of Commerce, Optimist Club, and Brianna Becker Memorial and am honored to be one of the recipients of the Tier One Scholarship.
I have studied Latin throughout middle school and high school and would love to attend a study abroad trip to Italy. I am fascinated by the different styles of art, architecture, cuisine, and overall lifestyles of other countries and look forward to the opportunities to learn, grow, and experience other cultures through the study abroad program at the University of Houston.
I am interested in research in cognitive development, especially concerning the way young special needs children grow, learn, and react to their individual situations.
I plan to attend graduate school and pursue a career in which I can work with special needs children, either through physical or psychological therapy.
