I consider myself a positive and outgoing person. I have a strong Christian faith and really enjoy volunteering in my community. I like to believe that I can make a difference, no matter how small. I delight in doing crafts, especially crocheting. I enjoy the small things in life, like my two little dogs and spending quality time with the ones I love. Learning has never been a chore for me. I have a passion for learning and am excited to continue my education at U of H.
Campus and Community Involvement
I volunteer with an organization called 1000 Hills Ministry where I help deliver a church service and hot meals to the homeless in the third ward. This past year, I have been preparing relief kits to distribute to the homeless. I volunteer with the Special Olympics annually as well. On campus, I am part of RUF (Reform University Fellowship), a Christian organization that reaches students with the message of the gospel to equip us to love and serve Jesus. I am also in a Business Group called ELASP (Emerging Leaders Academic Success Program), which is a program for first year pre-business students. ELAPS helps foster leadership skills for success in the corporate world. I work part time each week as an intern with The Shakiba Group, an Ameriprise financial planning and wealth management practice. In high school, I volunteered throughout the community at local schools and festivals. I was Historian and Secretary of my school’s National Honor Society chapter. I was Junior Lieutenant and my senior year I was Captain of my school’s dance team. I have been dancing since I was two and plan on taking a few classes while here at UH.
Awards and Honors
I graduated 9th in my high school class of 634 with summa cum laude honors. I was a Superintendent Scholar all four years of high school, which meant I had to maintain above a 95 in all regular classes and above an 85 in all PreAp/AP courses. I was honored by the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce for being in the top 10 of my senior class. As a member of my high school’s dance team, I was awarded ‘Celebrity of the year’ and ‘Best Attitude’ recognitions. I was a member of the Texas All-State dance team and a finalist 3 times at various dance competitions. My freshman year I had the highest GPA on my cheer squad and was voted the ‘Best Dancer’. I was voted ‘Most Beautiful’ by my senior class in the yearbook as well.
Honestly, just the idea of studying abroad excites me. This summer, I will be going on a 3-week volunteer trip to South Africa. I will be participating in humanitarian and conservation work and staying with multiple different tribes for cultural immersion.
Participating in some type of research has always been a dream of mine. I think that taking advantage of the metropolitan area we live in to conduct a business related research study would be really eye-opening to what it would be like to be a part of the Houston Business sector.
Right now, I am planning on taking advantage of the 5 year Accounting program U of H offers. From there, I hope to find a job as an Accountant for a non-profit organization. I really have a heart for those in need. I would love to use my Business education to help others.
