If I had to describe myself in one word it would be ‘random.’ Most of my free time goes to reading, photography, and my four-wheeler. I was a proud Latin nerd in high school, and I have seen every episode of Seinfeld in a capacity that is almost unhealthy. People who know me will tell you that I’m stubborn; I prefer to think of it as determined. My parents instilled in me a great work ethic that always pushes me to do my best and take responsibility for my actions.
Campus and Community Involvement
I am currently a member of the Honors College; otherwise I am mostly focusing on my school work.
Awards and Honors
In high school, I was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and an officer of my school’s Latin club (which is one of the biggest in the nation) and placed in multiple state and national competitions. I was also awarded the distinction of Latin Student of the Year for my school. In addition to the Tier One Scholarship I also received the James Scholarship for interior architecture.
Having studied Latin and Greco-Roman culture in high school, I would love to travel to Rome or Athens. I’m drawn to these destinations not only because of my history as a Latin nerd, but also because they are home to some of the most revered structures in the history of architecture. To be able to combine my love of architecture and the classics would be amazing.
My mother suffered from a stroke when I was five years old, and though she has made incredible progress, she still suffers from complete paralysis on the right side of her body. Having grown up with a disabled mom, I have unique perspective on how the physically handicapped interact with their surroundings, and I would love to do additional research in this area.
I plan to be certified in either architecture or interior design. I’m not sure whether or not I want to continue to focus on interiors, and I am also considering earning my masters in architecture. Luckily, I still have plenty of time to make my decision.
