I am very easy going and laid back. I try hard to be proactive and solve potential problems before they even arise. I am very interested in and enjoy working with technology. I also enjoy working with numbers and learning how things work, so I knew that Electrical Engineering was for me. I find that my motivation to work hard comes from an internal source, not an external one. Nobody constantly rode my back to achieve what I did in high school except me. I am my toughest critic. Even when I have to perform mundane tasks that really have no impact on anything, I find that I cannot just blow them off and must complete them to the best of my ability. Some people may think of this as a curse, I like to think of it as an asset. I am inspired by everyday people who have a strong moral center, work hard, and achieve their goals.
Campus and Community InvolvementThroughout high school I volunteered through the National Honor Society by helping Katy Christian Ministries, school carnivals and various other things. I plan on playing some intermural sports for fun. As of now, I am currently involved with the Honors College. I plan on joining IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the Catholic Student Organization and any other organization that peaks my interest.
Awards and Honors
I graduated in the top 10% of my class with high honors. I received the National AP Scholar Award which means that I averaged a 4 or above on all AP Exams and scored a 4 or above on eight or more exams. At the end of my high school career, I tutored students mainly in math after school and received the Kola Digital Student Award. I am also fortunate enough to have been awarded the Tier One Scholarship.
I am not taking any languages in college, but I did take three years of French in high school. Right now I am looking to study abroad in New Zealand, Australia or South Africa. I have only stepped outside of the United States a handful of times and am intrigued about visiting a different continent. I am interested in learning about the languages and customs of other societies.
I honestly don’t know what I want to research. I figured that once I started to learn about all the different areas of my major I would be able to make a more informed decision about what kind research I want to do.
I would love to have my Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering four years from now. I also plan on going for my master’s degree which hopefully can be done in an additional year or two before getting started in my career.
