About Me

I am hardworking and persevering.  I am a bit of a perfectionist, and believe that is my vice as well as my virtue.  I strive to better myself and reach higher expectations. I demonstrate an eagerness and willingness to learn, a positive outlook in all areas, as well as dedication and commitment in all that I do.  I love football, basketball, and soccer.  I am a huge Houston Texans fan!  I consider myself to be outgoing, social, and always excited to meet new people.

Campus and Community Involvement

I am currently a member of PROMES, Allied Health Professions Society, and the Spanish Culture and Language Association.  I intend to join the American Chemical Society as well. I have volunteered at the MARS Rover event, various walks, and the Star of Hope Mission during my first year on campus.  I look forward to being more involved in the community, and give back in whichever way I can.

Awards and Honors

I am on the Dean’s List for the Cullen College of Engineering for Fall 2012—I was a Chemical Engineering major.  In high school, I was a recipient of the Academic Excellence award for all four years.  I also earned several department awards in English, Math, and Spanish.  I was designated an AP Scholar with Honor.  In addition to the Tier One Scholarship, I received the annual Commander Baker scholarship from my high school, as well as the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo scholarship.

Study Abroad

I have taken several years of Spanish in high school, and will continue to take Spanish at UH.   I will be studying abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico this summer for five weeks through Kukulcan.  I am excited to immerse myself in a Spanish-speaking country to further explore the language and culture.  Because I am also minoring in Arabic, I also aspire to study abroad in the Middle East.

Research

I have not completed any research projects yet, but I am planning to research in anything that pertains to healthcare, such as:  Chemistry/Biochemistry, Biology, or Pharmacy.

Future Endeavors

After earning a Bachelor’s degree, I plan to apply to medical school.  Should I not be accepted, I plan to work for the government in some way by combining my skills as a chemist and linguist.
