About Me

I love art. All my life, it has fascinated me and shown me a whole new world. These past few years, I have made art my life; I¹ve created it, appreciated it, and spent a large amount of my free time taking trips to see it. I plan to make art the focus of the rest of my life.

Campus and Community Involvement

The moment I arrived at the University of Houston, I jumped straight into the Blaffer Student Association. I am thoroughly enjoying my time with them planning and hosting events along with the Blaffer Gallery. Also, this past year, I have become the Outreach Officer of the group, assisting with campus awareness and member recruiting. In addition to the Blaffer Student Association, I also helped found the Art History Association of Students. This organization is growing and proving to be a great way for Art History students to get to know each other and help each other. I am the Social Media/Social Content Officer of the association and am in charge of our social media and public relations. I have also  recently been invited to join The National Society of Collegiate Scholars for my high academic achievement.

Awards and Honors

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin High School. My senior year, I was the President of the Stephen F. Austin High School Choir and Treasurer of our National Honor Society. I received various awards from the TMEA Choral All-State program and UIL competitions. I was the Tenor section leader for three years straight in the varsity mixed choir at Austin High School. I received a scholarship from Schlumberger and was offered scholarships from The University of Pennsylvania and The University of Chicago.

Study Abroad

I am currently learning French and aspire to study in Paris. I would also like to study in New York City.

Research

I am interested in doing some sort of collaborative research with one of the Houston museums. I also plan to begin independent or mentored research in the Fall of 2013.

Future Endeavors

After I graduate, I will attend graduate school to pursue a masters degree in Art History or Museum Studies. I plan to focus on 20th century art, and quite possibly on 20th and 21st century prints. Ultimately, I aspire to obtain my PhD and either teach at the university level or curate at a museum.
