Abigail ComeauxUniversity of Houston Alumni Association Tier One Scholarship Endowment
I am academically motivated by the blessings I have received - the Tier One scholarship and the chance for higher education at this university. Other motivation and inspiration comes from my family, especially my amazing mother who pushes me to do my best in every aspect of life. I have tried to do this in everything from working part-time jobs to making exceptional grades in high school. I am currently a certified florist and an active member in my church. I am interested in the business world, learning foreign languages, and anthropology. I love meeting new people and learning from the fascinating world around me!
Campus and Community Involvement
In my hometown community, I volunteered at many different organizations that assisted people from all walks of life. I hope to continue this in the city of Houston and the University of Houston community. Currently, I am a member of the Student Alumni Connection and spend a lot of time at the gym and studying, but I would eventually like to become more involved in a few of the many student organizations on campus.
Awards and Honors
I was in National Honors Society in high school as well as in the top ten percent of my class. I was an honors graduate and a National Forensics League member. I received scholarships from the Wilson County Educators Foundation, the La Vernia Lions Club, the Sara Strey Scholarship Foundation, Patsy Ritchey and the State Farm Insurance Company, the San Antonio chapter of the University of Houston Alumni Association, and the Honors College at the University of Houston.
I plan to take Spanish and study abroad during my college career. It is a great opportunity made plausible by the Tier One Scholarship and I have always wanted to study abroad in Ireland or somewhere different than the familiar, American, western culture.
I would love to become part of a marketing research project that studies the buying and/or selling behaviors and trends.
I am unsure of my future career plans but am excited to explore my options while at the University of Houston.
