I played tennis for 10 years. I used to eat, sleep and breathe tennis but now that I am in college, I had to put it aside and focus on my education. I LOVE watching movies. I am not as big of a movie buff as I wish I was, but I hope to be one and also collect movies as well. I use to work at Studio Movie Grill at City Center, so I was able to watch all the movies that were out and also for free. I really enjoy running and being active. It is a good way for me to relieve stress and feel good. I randomly like to find good quotes to lift my spirits and the most recent quote I ran into was “Catch yourself when a negative thought crosses your mind, and cancel it out by purposely replacing it with a positive statement” -Carl Tuchy Palmieri. I believe that being optimistic will help me get through school and life. There is no reason to be so pessimistic about things because that will get you nowhere. Life is a gift and we should not waste it by always viewing it from the negative perspective.
Campus and Community Involvement
I am currently volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. In the past, I have volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, nursing homes, Buddy Walk, church, etc. I plan on volunteering at Texas Children’s Hospital. I play tennis and used to be ranked top 75 in Texas. I still strive to play as much as possible, time permitting. I also love to work out and exercise at the Recreational center. I use to be a student council officer for three years and class president for two years. I was also team captain for the tennis team for three years at my high school. Currently, I am in the University of Houston Pre-Pharmacy Association and I will be joining SNPHA (Student National Pharmaceutical Association).
Awards and Honors
I received the MVP award 4 years in a row for tennis. I was a Super champ in the United States Tennis Association from age 13-18.
I would like to study abroad in Ireland, France, or England. Basically anywhere in Europe interests me because I always see such enticing photographs of the landscape. The idea of being in a different country and learning their way of life has really made me interested in studying abroad. I feel that by exploring a new country I would broaden my perspective on life and learning.
I plan on finishing pre-pharmacy in the next two years and hopefully attend the University Of Houston College Of Pharmacy to receive my doctorate in Pharmacy.
