About Me

I am interested in becoming a health education specialist and enjoy focusing on exercise. I am passionate about living a sustainable life and doing what I can to help the environment. In my spare time, I love cooking, baking, working out, and planning events. I am a huge fan of foreign or independent film. I also like reading contemporary realistic fiction, reading and writing poetry, and blogging.

Campus and Community Involvement

I volunteer at different events throughout the city like the Annual Feast of Sharing at George R. Brown Convention Center and at the Houston House of Charity. At UH, I am a member of the Muslim Students Association, serve as the Islam Week Coordinator, and help organize and volunteer for other events for the organization.

Awards and Honors

I am a National Merit Scholar, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Phi Kappa Phi,  and have been on the Dean’s List consistently.

Study Abroad

I haven't studied abroad yet, but there are so many opportunities to at UH, so I'm looking forward to taking a mini-mester trip!

I currently work for the Center for Neuromotor and Biomechanics Research at the National Center for Human Performance under Dr. Stacey Gorniak. I am currently working on two projects; one involves gait analysis in simulated post-stroke conditions, and the other attempts to understand the effects of Type 2 diabetes on motor skills and cognition.

Future Endeavors

I plan to continue my education in public and environmental health.
