The Manny Family UH Tier One Scholarship Endowment
I chose the University of Houston as the school for me because of the opportunities for me to grow in a diverse public university, yet still be able to experience a close- knit environment in the Honors College and the Bauer College of Business. I think my closest family and friends would describe me as a very friendly, caring, and easygoing person always with a big smile on my face! Noy means “charm” in Hebrew, and I believe that charm describes my personality. I really enjoy traveling to new and exciting places around the world with my family! I love graphic and interior design, and I hope to incorporate these interests with my career in the future.
Campus and Community Involvement
I have been involved with several organizations at UH such as NSCS (National Society of Collegiate Scholars), ELASP (Emerging Leaders Academic Success Program) and Invisible Children. I have participated in mentoring middle school students through the STEP program, workshops to improve my leadership and networking skills, as well as fundraising events to promote “UH for Africa”. I am currently not involved with any sports, but I really enjoy going to the gym and taking group kickboxing and dance classes.
Awards and Honors
When I attended Bellaire High School, I was an active member in the National Honor Society, and I was elected to the Honor Corps in the Bellaire Belles dance team. I also received the AP Scholar with Distinction award. Since I started attending UH, I have had the honor of being on Bauer College of Business’s Dean’s List for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011. I was also one of 15 students this semester to receive the Outstanding First Year Honors Student award from the Honors College.
I am currently not taking any language classes, but I have more than 6 years of Spanish experience from middle school and high school. I would love to do a study abroad in a Spanish speaking country to improve and practice my Spanish speaking skills. I am also very interested in a study abroad experience dealing with my major, Business, so that I would be able to travel and improve my business skills. I have traveled to many countries on vacation with my family, and I am looking forward to studying abroad in South America, Europe, or Asia in the near future!
I will probably research a business topic dealing with entrepreneurship or marketing so that my project deals with ideas that I am familiar with through my business classes.
My future career plans include being a successful entrepreneur and marketing my business to the world! I love graphic design, interior design, and real estate, so I hope to be able to work in those fields that stimulate my interests. I am interested in pursuing an MBA, but at this point I am staying focused on my undergraduate degree.
