About Me

Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated with the written word. I have always loved to read and write; everything from short picture books as a little kid to poetry and short fiction as I have grown older. I believe that humans were created in God’s image, which includes the ability to imagine and create endless possibilities, something I choose to explore each and every moment in my writing and in my daily life.

Campus and Community Involvement

I have always strived to be a leader in my community participating in and taking leaderships positions in numerous organizations, including Boy Scouts of America and National Honor Society. Also, I have worked on mission projects through church events and performed in several musicals at the Brazosport Center for the Arts and Sciences.

Awards and Honors

I am an Eagle Scout who has held several leadership positions throughout the years. I am also an Estess Scholar at the University of Houston Honors College who has recently been inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Study Abroad

I am currently finishing my French minor, a language I have studied since my freshman year in high school. This will include a study abroad trip this summer to Angers, France where I will attend the Université Catholique de l'Ouest and participate in several excursions throughout the country. I also intend to participate in the Fulbright Program upon graduation, also travelling to France.

Research

I am currently in the process of finding an undergraduate research project for the Spring 2012 semester. I am interested in exploring unique applications for creative writing, such as what forms of creative writing can be classified as literature or art, concentrating on the medium of graphic novels.

Future Endeavors

After completing my undergraduate career, I intend to apply the University of Houston Creative Writing Graduate Program, ranked second in the nation. My first year will be deferred, hopefully, as I partake in the Fulbright Program, conducting research while abroad in another country. Through the graduate program, I intend to earn a PhD in creative writing.
