Mr. and Mrs. Earl Maxwell, Jr. UH Tier One Scholarship Endowment
I consider myself a down-to-earth and rational person. I try very hard to look at things from an objective perspective. I enjoy music, playing and learning new instruments, and lifting weights with my free time.
Campus and Community Involvement
I don’t have much free time, but when I do I am usually working out at the UH Recreation Center. I enjoy lifting weights and living a healthy lifestyle. I am a part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Awards and Honors
In High School, I received numerous band awards, and performed in the Louisiana All-State high school bands my sophomore, junior, and senior year. In my senior year I made first chair in the All-State Band playing tuba. I also graduated in the top 10% of my class and with Honors.
I am currently taking French, and I am considering a study abroad trip to France over the summer of 2012. The main point of interest to me in study abroad programs lies in the travel aspect itself – I have never set foot outside the United States. So doing so and going overseas to visit Europe would be an amazing experience for me. I look forward to learning more about the French culture and language.
Right now I have not begun a research project but as I delve further into my major, I hope I can apply what I learn to do research in the field of three-dimensional vector calculus.
I would really like to attend Graduate school after receiving my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston. I would like to steer my studies more in the direction of Physics after receiving my Bachelor’s degree and hopefully to apply this to work in aeronautics.
