The Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences in the College of Technology at the University of Houston seeks qualified candidates for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in the Master of Science Degree Program in Futures Studies and Strategic Foresight. Candidates are expected to demonstrate their understanding of systems thinking and the tools and methods of long-term forecasting and planning the skills and knowledge to identify and understand the flow of change, describe expected and plausible alternative futures (scenarios), and develop visions and plans to work toward preferred futures. The appointment will begin in Fall 2014.
Qualified candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in an appropriate discipline and will have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience. They should present evidence of their ability to develop curriculum and teach in at least two of the following areas: systems thinking and modeling, social systems analysis, trend tracking and analysis, long-term scenario forecasting, visioning, and strategic planning. Candidates should also document successful research and industry collaboration, positive post-secondary teaching, supervisory experience, the ability to assume a key role in the ongoing development of the Foresight program, and a demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity with a proven ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse population.
