College welcomes new director of advancement

Vernon King joined the College of Technology on October 28 as the director of advancement.  King has more than 15 years of experience in development that includes planning annual giving and capital campaigns.  He was most recently the vice president of development with Methodist Children’s Homes (MCH) of Mississippi, where he created and implemented an annual giving campaign and planned a giving program while also marketing MCH.  For eight years, he served Millsaps College as director of development where he supervised a team of nine, including four development officers, held his own portfolio and supported donor relations, among other duties. 

Vernon has also worked in director of development roles with Mississippi College, the American Red Cross and Mississippi Women’s University. He holds a M.A. in Theological Studies from the Protestant Episcopal Seminary and B.A. in Public Administration from the University of Mississippi. He can be reached at veking@central.uh.edu.
