Construction education began at the College of Technology in 1958. The construction program became accredited under the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in 1968 and maintained accreditation for 36 years. In 2010, the Construction Management program became accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). Since 2010 the program has grown to include over 400 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. Educational instruction is provided by six full-time faculty and 15-20 industry professionals (part-time instructors) that bring real-life projects to the classrooms.
The ACCE is a global advocate of quality construction education programs and promotes, supports, and accredits quality education programs. ACCE is recognized by the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) as the accrediting agency for four year baccalaureate degree programs in construction, construction science, construction management, and construction technology.

The mission of the CM Program is to provide students with skills and knowledge that are valued by the commercial, industrial and heavy civil construction industry and result in increasing the students' marketability and potential for success.

- Engineering concepts, e.g. design concepts and analysis of structural systems

- Bidding and estimating, including blueprint reading and quantity take-offs

- Project administration
The construction industry has maintained high demand for CM graduates who possess dynamic personal skills and can integrate construction science, engineering and business skills. The high demand is manifested in the average starting salary of many of our graduates ($50,000 - $60,000) with the potential of earning $120,000 - $150,000 in 10-15 years. The job market has offered our graduates employment in positions such as Project Managers, Construction Managers, Construction Superintendents, Field Engineers, Construction Planners, Construction Estimators and contract administrators. The majority of our students are hired by general contractors and engineering-construction firms. The CM program has produced a number of its graduates who have become top administrators and officers of major regional and international companies.

The Construction Management (CM) Undergraduate program has established a comprehensive assessment process for continuous improvement. The Academic Quality Plan presents the CM assessment and evaluation process and describes the measures used to collect data on student performance. The Course Outcomes Matrix establishes the link between CM Program Learning Outcomes and specific courses. The Assessment Process Flowchart illustrates the relationship between different assessment and evaluation activities. Finally, the Assessment of Student Learning report presents data collected through the assessment tools and actions taken base on assessment results.
