A Message from the Dean Dr. Anthony P. Ambler

Dr. Anthony P. Ambler
Dean of the College of Technology, Dr. Anthony Ambler

Welcome to the University of Houston College of Technology

I am delighted and excited to serve as the Dean of the College of Technology, a successful college in the creation of interdisciplinary programs and adapting to the needs of the workforce. Through expansion and continued enhancements in undergraduate, graduate, and research programs, the College is preparing to become the premier destination for students and faculty. We are elated about our expansion into Fort Bend County with the addition of a new College of Technology building at UH Sugar Land, where there is a thriving economy and work force. Whether you are a student, faculty member, industry partner, alumnus, or a member of the community, you are welcome to join us on the journey toward becoming the premier College of Technology in the nation and around the world.

About the Dean

A native of the United Kingdom, Dr. Anthony Ambler has worked with many UK, EU, and US companies in the field of test technology for electronic components and systems, a discipline that gained him election to Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. After appointment as one of the youngest chaired professors at Brunel University in England, he accepted an invitation to join the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. After five years, he assumed the duties of chairman of that department for the next nine years. While there, Dr. Ambler created the first major interdisciplinary master's degree in Engineering Management. In 2011, he accepted the position of Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing at the University of South Carolina, and in 2016 accepted the position of Academic Director and Workforce Development in the Office of Economic Engagement, which provides leadership within the university for major industry, commerce, and government investment. Dr. Ambler holds a B.Sc. Degree in Electronics, an M.Sc. Degree in Digital Electronics, and a Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering, all from the University of Manchester.
