Graduate Assistantships

Research and Teaching Assistantship Form

Overview

Graduate assistantships are paid positions for graduate students which usually involve work as a teaching assistant, research assistant or some other academic assistance to a member of the college. Some of these positions can also provide tuition reduction.

Application for Graduate Assistantship

The Technology Division awards a number of assistantships to incoming and current graduate students each year. New students should be aware that assistantships cannot be awarded until acceptance into the graduate program is official.

The Department of Information Science Technology's application for student employment can be viewed here. For assistantship opportunities in all other departments, please email cotgrad [at] uh.edu (cotgrad[at]uh[dot]edu).

Deadline

The priority application date is April 1st for Fall applicants. Both new students and current UH students will be considered for assistantships. New students must be admitted to a graduate program at UH. Current students must be in good academic standing and making satisfactory progress toward their degree. Priority will be given to Technology Division graduate students.

Applicants will be notified by mail of decisions concerning their application. The department may request in-person interviews prior to the award of an assistantship. Initial decisions will be made in May, and additional awards may be made through out the summer if positions become available.
