Computing Services

Computers are available for student use in the Open Computer Lab at the UH Sugar Land campus. Students use their CougarNet computer account to log on to the computers.

If you need assistance in resetting your CougarNet passoword, or other UH account passwords, you can use the CougarNet Password Wizard.

For more information on the use of the computers at UH Sugar Land, see the Lab Rules, which also includes information on the legal use of software and Texas Computer Crimes Law.

Students and guests to campus are able to connect to the Internet via the UH wireless network.

Certain software is available for students to download from the UIT Software Download site.

Student IT Services Survey

In April 2018, the Information Technology Department conducted a survey of students at UH Sugar Land. The survey measured student satisfaction with the current IT resources and services, as well as identified new services, or changes to current services, that students wanted to see made.

The survey gathered data in 6 broad response areas, including general demographic information, computing resources, video conferencing resources, general classroom resources, communication and social media resources, and the IT staff.

The survey results will provide input into the UH Sugar Land strategic planning process, assist the IT Department in reviewing the Department Mission, and, guide IT strategic decisions in allocating resources to current and new services that student’s feel is most important to their academic success.
