The Office of Special Events (SPEV) was created to design, manage and produce events with a presidential standard of hospitality for the Chancellor and resident, but also offers assistance to all thirteen colleges and other internal constituents. The function is to strategize, create and manage the appropriate atmosphere to execute quality events for the University of Houston.
The Office of Special Events’ goal is to enhance goodwill, develop new friends for the university, and project the prestige of this Tier One institution.
As a turnkey operation, SPEV manages all components of assigned events including, but not limited to, design of invitations, logistics of an event, and staffing on day of event. Special events are regularly conducted at all levels and locations throughout the university system in support of the university’s strategic vision and brand identity. Because of the university’s size and initiatives, it is critical the university has a centralized office that is committed to assisting in the scheduling and execution of major events.

Hilton University of Houston Hotel features eighty-six hotel guest rooms, seven meeting rooms and three ballrooms with capacity ranging from 10 to 600 people. It's the ideal destination for meetings, banquets, receptions, video conferencing and special events.
Student Center has meeting rooms to accommodate a variety of needs for several size groups. Some meeting rooms are set in prearranged formats and others are flexible. Audio-visual equipment is also available. Also included are the Student Center Satellite, Lynn Eusan Park, and most other outdoor spaces.
Conference and Reservation Services (CARS).
University Libraries manages the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion and all the rooms within the in the university’s libraries.
Other Room Scheduling - most classrooms and lecture halls across campus, and several auditoriums are managed by the Office of Records and Registration.
University of Houston Department of Public Safety (UHDPS)
UHDPS assists the University of Houston campus community by taking requests to provide police and/or security services for special events. These events may be sponsored by a University of Houston division, college, department, student, faculty, staff, or individual and groups not affiliated with the University of Houston. This includes, but is not limited to, athletic, business, community, cultural, fraternity, sorority, political, and professional events. UHDPS officer in charge of Special Events is the contact for any group or individual requesting police service for special events occurring at any university facility.
