THE DAILY COUGAR

Always on the prowl

The Daily Cougar, in continuous publication since 1934 (or 1928 if you count its days as the student newspaper of the Houston Junior College), is one of the University's oldest traditions. Students are wholly responsible for the paper's content and are involved in almost every aspect of publication, from writing and editing to sales and business to design and prepress, making it an ideal workplace for students looking for hands-on experience in a variety of fields.

The Cougar is a student-fee-funded organization that makes annual requests from the Student Fees Advisory Commmittee, but the paper is paid for mostly by its advertising revenue. The editor in chief is elected by the Student Publications Committee, which meets monthly to advise the department. Read more about the SPC.

The Cougar publishes Monday through Friday during the Fall and Spring semesters, and Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer term. It also publishes news on thedailycougar.com throughout the year.
