The first Houstonian

The first Houstonian staff formed after the Easter holiday in 1934 and was composed largely of Cougar editors, photographers and writers. In a mere two weeks, the staff completed UH's “First Official Annual.”

The 32-page book sold for 75 cents and included photos of adminstrators, faculty, staff and, of course, the students. The book was dedicated to Dr. E.E. Oberholtzer.

“This University will become great if the citizenship of this area desires to make it great,” editors wrote.
