Community Engagement Program

Throughout its 40-year history, the Graduate College of Social Work has been committed to community engagement by fostering collaborative relationships with the larger local, regional/state, national and global communities. Sustained community engagement is an essential component of The University of Houston's growing effort to enhance its institutional commitment to improve the quality of life in Houston.

Through its community research and collaboration programs administered by its Office of Community Projects (OCP), the Graduate College of Social Work provides institutional resources for community use for the mutual benefit of both the university and its collaborators. A leading force in the University of Houston's strategic objective of obtaining a Tier 1 status in the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching's ranking for community advancement, the Graduate College of Social Work is providing quality education for an internationally diverse student body, applying its research expertise to examine issues affecting communities and engaging in public service that takes advantage of Houston extensive resources and strategic location as global hub.
