About Us
Siren is an organization founded for the purpose of promoting the composition and performance of new music at the University of Houston and throughout the Greater Houston community. Siren existed largely as a nominal entity until the Fall of 2003, when it became a chapter of The Society of Composers, Inc., a national association dedicated to providing support and assistance to contemporary composers.
Guided by
our faculty advisor, Dr.
Rob Smith, our mission is to supply our members with opportunities
to have their works performed and to raise funds that will assist us in
our efforts to garner awareness and appreciation for contemporary music
that transcends both demographic and geographic boundaries.
