USA-NKF 2001 National Championship

The USA-NKF is a highly prestigious and an official organization that takes karate athletes to the Olympics. Thus, the USA-NFK National is a once a year national tournament that brings karate athletes together from all over the United States to compete against each other in one stadium. The competition is divided by age groups and sub-groups according to the level of training and martial arts style. Each year the national tournament is hosted at a different city and draws in several thousand competitors and spectators.

Deddy Mansyur competed in the Men's Kata division consisted of numerous black belt competitors, and was awarded the bronze medal putting him in third place. He joined force with a team of black belt men from other dojos in Houston and competed in Team Kumite competition. The group won bronze medals. (Click on photo for larger view)
