Senate Structure
|
About Senate Structure The speaker serves as the chief officer of the senate and presides over SGA senate meetings, facilitates the flow of legislation, and together with the executive committee establishes the meeting agenda. The speaker serves as the official representative of the senate and individually appoints several other senate officer positions, including the standing committee chairs. The speaker pro tempore presides over senate meetings in the absence of the speaker. The chairs of the senate's four standing committees conduct meetings with members of their particular committee between senate meetings, to research and discuss proposed legislation. They also coordinate efforts with related bodies in the SGA executive branch and the faculty senate. The standing committees are Academic Affairs, Internal Affairs, University Administration and Finance, and Student Life. |
