Activities Funding Board
Recurrence: Meets once a semester.
Description: The Activities Funding Board is responsible for allocating that portion of student fees granted for activities funding.
A.D. Bruce Religion Center Policy Board
Recurrence: Meets once a semester.
Description: Advices on policies concerning the A.D. Bruce Religion Center.
Athletic Advisory Board
Recurrence: Meets monthly.
Description: Advises the President/Athletic Director on issues relating to intercollegiate athletics.
Bookstore Advisory Committee
Recurrence: Meets 2-4 times/semester.
Description: Reviews and advises on issues/concerns related to the University Bookstore.
Center for Students with Disabilities Advisory Board
Recurrence: Meetings vary.
Description: Makes recommendations concerning policies/guidelines in the area of services for/needs of disabled students.
Child Care Center Advisory Board
Recurrence: Meets monthly.
Description: Makes recommendations concerning policies/guidelines for the administration of the Child Care Center.
Emergency Planning Committee
Recurrence: Meets once a month.
Food Services Advisory Committee
Recurrence: Meets regularly.
Description: Advises the Food Services Management Team and the Vice President for Administration and Finance regarding the University’s retail and residential food/beverage and vending programs.
Graduate and Professional Studies Council
Health Center Advisory Board
Recurrence: Meets every other Friday.
Description: Advises on administration policies/guidelines concerning the Health Center.
International Students Advisory Council
Recurrence: Meets at least once a semester.
Description: Reviews services, policies, and other matters of concern to international students and makes recommendations to the Director of International Student Services.
Library Committee
Recurrence: Meets 2-3 times/semester.
Description: Advisory body to the library; assists in setting resources allocation priorities and reviewing holdings inventories.
Organizations Board
Recurrence: Meets bi-weekly.
Description: Implements and administers the Organizations Policy and general supervision over student organizations.
Recreation Advisory Committee
Description: Reviews and recommends policies and services related to the new recreation & Wellness Center and intramural and recreational activities on campus.
Safety and Security Advisory Board
Recurrence: Meets monthly.
Description: Advises the President through the Vice President for Administration and Finance on matters related to police activities at UH and works closely with the UH Police Chief to promote policies that will support a secure campus.
Sexual Harassment Board
Recurrence: Acts as pool for hearings.
Description: The Board serves to provide a pool of candidates from which committees may be drawn to hear a sexual harassment complaints.
Student Fee Advisory Committee
Recurrence: Meets monthly, and for 14 days in February.
Description: Makes recommendations to the President relating to the annual allocation of students fees.
Student Publications Committee
Recurrence: Meets monthly.
Description: Recommends and monitors the implementation of policies related to students publications.
Student Traffic Court
Recurrence: Acts as pool for hearings; 8-10 hearings/semester.
Description: Examines appeals from students regarding violations of regulations as delineated by UH regulations.
Substance Abuse Prevention Advisory Board
Serves to enforce UH policies pertaining to all violations of Student Life and related (non-academic) student policies.
Teaching Excellence Awards Committee
Recurrence: Concentrated in spring; Meets 2-3 times/month; classroom visits.
Description: Advises Provost/President on evaluation/selection of candidates for the teaching excellence awards.
Title IX Grievance Committee
Recurrence: Acts as pool for hearings.
Description: Serves to provide a pool of candidates from which committees may be drawn to hear complaints of discrimination.
Transportation and Parking Advisory Board
Recurrence: Meets 2-4 times/semester.
Description: Advises the President through the Vice President for Administration and Finance on matters related to parking activities at UH and works closely with the Director of Parking and Transportation to promote policies that will support an efficient parking and transportation operation.
Undergraduate Admissions Review Committee
Recurrence: Meets as needed.
Description: Advises on the status of students who appeal decisions for admission.
University Commission on Women
Recurrence: Meets every two weeks.
Description: Informs and advises the President and senior administrative leadership as well as the general University community on issues and concerns that have a impact on women at UH.
University Hearing Board
Recurrence: Training as needed; usually 1-2 hearings/semester.
Description: Serves to enforce UH policies pertaining to all violations of Student Life and related (non-academic) student policies.
University of Houston Art Acquisition Committee
Recurrence: Meets 3-4 times/semester.
Description: Recommends to the President/Board of Regents the purchase of major acquisitions based on the university 1% plan.
