2007 Sock & Blanket Drive, November 12-30

The University of Houston Staff Council is sponsoring its annual Sock & Blanket Drive benefiting the Star of Hope and the Harris County Protective Services Guardianship Program. The drive will run through November 30.

The Staff Council is collecting new socks and underwear and new and clean blankets, towels, sheets, coats, sweaters, warm clothing, children's and baby's clothing, professional attire, over-the-counter medications and other items at collection sites around the campus (see full list below).

The Harris County Protective Services Guardianship Program requests new items, as they will be given as holiday presents. Star of Hope requests that the items be clean.

The Star of Hope has been serving Houston's homeless since 1907. The organization provides food, clothing, shelter and other services to men, women and children through emergency shelters, transitional living centers and out-on-the-street distributions.

The Harris County Protective Services Guardianship Program serves as legal guardians for 1,300 adults, ages 18 to 105. The program is seeking new socks, underwear, ( all sizes from XS to XXXL), unisex clothing, such as sweat suits, makeup, cologne and perfume, stuffed animals, hairstyling products, adult diapers, blankets, comforters and other items.

For more information, contact Dee Kahley-Randolph at 713-743-9235 or dmkahley@uh.edu.
