The patented method for the fabrication of a novel class of catalytic materials with improved catalytic activity is particularly suitable for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides (NOx). More specifically, two or more catalytic metals supported by a mixture of a shape-selective material (such as zeolites) are assembled in a layer-like fashion which conveys nonlinear improvement on the overall activity over a wide range of temperatures, while maintaining a low level of ammonia oxidation that involve combustion processes that produce NOx.
