What is PD?

PD stands for "Proposal Development". The InfoEd Proposal Development module enables the creation, review and submission of grant applications. The module enables investigators to pull together their proposal in a coordinated fashion, create budgets, and electronically route a proposal through the Division of Research for review. When the review and proposal are finalized, DOR Pre-Award Research Administrators can submit proposals electronically to the sponsoring agency through InfoEd. InfoEd submits the proposal in a system-to-system method, meaning the proposal created in InfoEd is seamlessly pushed through to Grants.gov systems.

What is PT?

The Proposal Tracking, or PT, module allows administrators to record, track, and report on research. Grants administrators will be able to view at a glance the entire history of a project, from initial submission to closeout.

What is SPIN?

InfoEd's SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information Network) is a funding opportunity database that researchers can use to identify the most current grant programs. Program information is presented in a standard format that allows investigators to readily compare opportunities.

Search engine allows users to query the database with either basic keyword or advanced Boolean searches.

SPIN is integrated with InfoEd's Proposal Development module, allowing for the user to prompt InfoEd to auto-generate a new electronic proposal template that is pre-loaded with relevant sponsor and program details from SPIN.

What is the web address to the InfoEd system?

How do I get access to the InfoEd system?

For the sandbox, email dorapp@uh.edu to get a test account. Provide your full name, employee ID, title, email address, and phone number. If once the full system is released you cannot login using your Cougarnet account, contact dorapp@uh.edu. Provide your full name, employee ID, title, email address, and phone number.

What is my login and password?

The login for the full system will be will be your CougarNet account login. For the sandbox, email dorapp@uh.edu to get a test account. Provide your full name, employee ID, title, email address, and phone number.

My login and password doesn't work?

Contact the InfoEd Implementation Team at dorapp@uh.edu or Central IT at x31411 to have your CougarNet account reset.

Can anyone access my proposal in InfoEd?

No, only individuals affiliated with the proposal can see your proposal. This is usually the primary investigator, co-investigator, department chairman, college dean, the department/college research administrator and the DOR research administrator.

How do I authorize someone else to access to my proposal?

A researcher may grant someone else to access their proposal. This will allow that person the ability to make changes to editable areas of a proposal. The person who is acting as a delegate will have access to ALL proposals created by the PI. To grant access:

  • Log into InfoEd.
  • From the Portal page, click on "My Profile".
  • Select "Edit".
  • Select "Delegates" from the list of options to the right.
  • When the window opens up at the bottom of the page, click on "Add" at the right of this section.
  • The Personnel window will pop up. Search for the person to delegate authority to and click on "Select".

I created my proposal and have a tracking number. How do I find my saved proposal?

  • Log into InfoEd.
  • From Portal page, click on "My Proposals" in left menu.
  • Click on "Show/List".
  • A results screen will display a list of proposals either in-process or completed. This list will include proposals for the Logged in User or any proposals that the user has been granted access for.
  • Once proposal is listed, hover over the Open icon beneath the proposal number, then click the "Edit" icon under "PD".

Can I save my proposal and finish it later?

As long as the initial eight steps of the Proposal Questionnaire are completed and a proposal number has been auto-generated by the system, the proposal can be saved for later retrieval.

How do I delete a proposal?

Contact your Research Administrator to delete a proposal.

I am having trouble with InfoEd. Who do I call?

You may contact the Division of Research by email at dorapp@uh.edu, Grace Rosanes, or contact your research administrator.

Do I have to upload a PDF file?

No, the system will convert the file uploaded to a PDF.

How do I search a proposal for a particular PI or sponsor?

Only PIs and sponsors with a current proposal in the system can be "set" as a search criteria. If you click the set link and don't see your sponsor or PI it does not mean they are not in InfoEd. It means they don't have a proposal in InfoEd. If you believe there is an error and your PI/sponsor should have a proposal listed, email dorapp@uh.edu or contact your research administrator.

Who can see my payroll/salary information on my proposal?

Only individuals affiliated with the proposal can see your proposal. This is usually the primary investigator, co-investigator, department chairman, college dean, department/college research administrator and the DOR research administrator.

Who can release my payroll/salary information on my proposal?

Payroll/salary information can be seen by you, your research administrator, and DOR research administrators.
